Would You Rather

Today we did a little writing task. I really enjoyed it! We had to make would you rather questions. I struggled to get started but once I had a few I was on a roll I ended up with 13. My favorite one was, Would you rather eat 1 cup of stringy melted cheese or 1 cup of greasy melted butter? The goal with this task was to add as many adjectives as we could. I was pretty happy with how much I got done and the quality.

Step It Up Artwork

 This is my digital artwork we did today. It is called Dish Of Apples made by Paul Cezanne. I chose these colors because they are a bit brighter and you can see all the details of the picture a bit better. This artist had gone for the rustic look with lots of curves and not many straight lines. They have blended some colors to get a cool affect. They have used dark colors which makes it a bit harder to make out which makes it look rustic and old. The main part of this artwork is the apples because they take up most of the space.

 Today we had Mrs Torrie in our class. This week we did digital coloring in of famous artwork. I chose to do Composition made by Mohamed Melehi. I chose this artwork because it looked cool and I had a good idea on what I could do with it.

This artist has used lots of wavy lines and dark colors most of the space is taken by the colors in the background but the wavy lines are in the middle so it makes them pop.

What I did to my artwork was made it a bit more bright and colorful and I tried to make the colors in the wavy lines match each other.

Tech Challenge

 

Throughout the last few weeks the year 7s have been doing cooking for tech. This week we will have our last session for the year and we are lucky enough to be making ICE CREAM!! I am super exited.

 In prep of this we got into our pairs and designed our own ice cream flavor and then we made a advertisement poster. Rylee and I chose to do a kiwi fruit pavlova. The challenge was to include at least one fresh element within our ice cream. This is our poster.

 

Yeetabeast

Throughout the past few days we have been making collages mine i named a Yeetabeast. I hope you like the writing i did about my animal :-)
Hi I am a Yeetabeast I live in the Savannas. I am made of a Rhino, a Stag, a Horse, a Giraffe, a Zebra and a German Shepard. I come out at sunset and sit on the hill with my friends. I hangout with the Peakasauras who flies all the way over from Africa every sunset. I stand at a huge 16 foot all thanks to my giraffe legs!! I am very friendly and my previous owner was Tarzan. We went everywhere together he rode me. I will never trust humans again since the Irish and their men killed Tarzan while we were on the run. Me and the Peakasauras plan to one day conquer the world then all of humankind will be gone forever.

Finishing Tech

(-: Wood Work :-)

For this term the year 7s have been doing wood work for tech. Peter has been teaching us and we have made some cool wooden stools. 

I think wood work is really fun but also challenging because you have to get the measurements perfect, it was also really hard to learn new skills with all the different tools. 

I think learning wood work is a really important skill in life so I am happy I get to learn this so early in life.

How the earth works

For the past few weeks our work has been around mountains and volcano´s and how they work. Throughout this week we have been focusing on the earths layers this will help us understand how the volcano's work. I really enjoyed doing this task because it was a bit of a challenge but I like a challenge and it was also fun trying to find different shapes to make it look as realistic as possible. The hardest part for me was making it look like it was a piece cut out of earth and also working with the technology because i´m not the best with technology.

Music Creation

Today we had cyber smart. We were working on making a piece of music to suit our picture. We have been focusing on music creations for the past few weeks with cybersmart. This week we used a site called SoundTrap. My picture was a horse hacking so I based my music on guitar and kept it chill and country. The thing I found hard was finding the music that sounded right to suit my picture. Keep in mind I am still working on this and I am not finished. I hope you like it.

I´m Jaimee. I am in 7 at Matawai school, I am new here.
I love horses. I have 3 of my own horses, Pippi I got when I was 1 and I love her lots, Tap I got 4 Years ago, he is my competition pony and then Rosie she is 10 months old, I got her so I can break her in and sell her.
I ride horses competitively my discipline is show jumping.
I am a very sporty girl, my main sports are, Netball, Water Polo, Swimming, Squash and Show Jumping.
I have 2 best friends.They live where I used to live in Tauranga.
My Mum was a high level netball player and a high level show jumper and my dad was a high level kick boxer, rugby player and Squash player.
I have a step sister and brother and a half sister.

Persuasive Zoo Writing

Kia Ora,

For the past week we have been working on a persuasive piece of writing thinking about weather Zoos should be banned or not. I said they should. I found it difficult to find different reasons for zoos to be banned. We read lots of different texts to find information about the different opinions. I hope you like it. Don´t be afraid to give me feedback.

Zoos should definitely be banned. They are cruel to all the animals kept there. Here are some reasons why.

My first reason is because the animals don’t get privacy. They are always open to the public to look at and judge. But in the wild they have trees to climb and places to hide, anyway it’s not like us strange, scary new species are gonna be banging on the window and watching their every move!

My second reason is some people might have not seen these types of animals and the animal might be asleep if so they would probably want to see it move and would bang on the glass and scare it into running away. We are forcing human interaction, We need to stop this.

My third reason is, I know that zookeepers try to make their habitat as normal as possible but there might be some things they don’t like about their old home and the zookeepers can’t talk to them and ask them what they want. Wouldn’t you want their home to be better than usual because they have limited space?

My final reason is that…  know they keep the animal they take safe from predators but by doing that at the same time they are ruining the food chain and starving all the animals that would kill that type of animal and eat it or feed it to their young but they can’t.

Those are just a few reasons why Zoos should obviously be banned. 

Robot Making

Robots

Today we had tech and Peter was away so Mr Knight took us. The goal was to create a moving robot so that by the end of the session we could have a game of Football/Soccer with the robots and field we made. We got into two teams, my team was Duncan, Maranga and Myself. The other team was Rylee and Hayley. We started making robots. It took us ages to pull the already made ones apart because our hands got sore. One of the hardest parts was connecting the battery pack to the rest of the robot. You had to use teamwork and communicate well or you would get nowhere. It was really fun even though we didn't get them finished to do the game.

Decade Study

Throughout our time back at school we have had a focus on the decades we have done interviews with people from a different decade (for example our grandparents), we made decade boxes that show what has happened in our decade and then we chose a topic to study (I chose horses) and we had to make a presentation about the topic we chose. The aim was to explore how our area of interest has changed over time.

Today we had Mrs Torrie. We learnt how to make music. This is mine. The hardest part was finding the right mix to make it sound right. It was really fun experimenting with the sounds.  This will be really good to use when making slides as well.

Print Making

With Mrs Allan we have been doing print making. It has been really fun. We are doing the print making on a piece of lino. My print making is of a horse shoe. At the moment I am just starting to do the cutting. I chose a horse shoe because we are not allowed to do a horse so I thought of something to do with horses and that was the first thing that came to my mind. 😁😊😀

Slow Writing

This week we have been working on some slow writing about fungi, slow writing is where we had things that we had to contain in each of our sentences, for example the first one had to be a question with alliteration. We got theses photos from a couple of kids that went around our school and took photos of some cool fungi they found. I chose this cool Bracket Fungi that looks  like steps on a log. I hope you like it.

Piano

At home I have just started learning to play the piano I have been playing for just under 2 weeks. I find songs from you tube and experiment with what sounds best.  I have learnt All Of Me, See You Again, You Were Good To Me, Someone You Loved and The Cup Song and I am working on July. The easiest song I learnt is All Of Me and the hardest one was See You Again. All of Me was easy because I just had to repeat the same notes over and over. I have really enjoyed learning the piano because it gives me something to do in my spare time and it is a skill that I can take with me for my life.

Today we did writing. For writing we learnt about the chines migrates. We had a buddy mine was Hayley. While one read the text the other made notes and out of the notes we had to write a paragraph out of the notes we wrote. We had to make it as similar as possible without making it exactly the same. The thing we worked on most was taking notes.

Today we made a poster on google drawings about our moments in lockdown. We focused on colour and fonts to make it look good but still readable.

Showjumping Animation

Today during our cybersmart lesson I did my first animation. In my animation I did a horse jumping because I love horses and showjumping so I thought it would be perfect. One of the things that was focused on is putting a audio on our animations. Next time I will do more angles to make it look more realistic. This will be updated later on.
